A portfolio of butterflies in platinum.
In the spring of 2000, while I was working with the Live Butterfly Exhibition at The American Museum of Natural History in New York, I decided to produce a butterfly portfolio using the platinum process. I was pleased to discover that, because of the extreme tonal sensitivity of the monochrome platinum, the distinctive texture of the butterflies stood out. They became creatures that are at once both strong and fragile.
